“Either fish or aquarium”

exhibition: “Oikos” exhibition, Art Muzeum of Leon Wyczółkowski, Bydgoszcz, Poland, 1998

An artificial room was constructed with a glass aquarium built into its ceiling, through which water constantly flowed. Light shining through this aquarium was reflected through the water and glass, creating rippling effects and green shade throughout the room and thus giving the observer the impression that he/ she is standing in water. On another level, the flowing water could be seen to represent the transience of time and the whole experience – within the silent, sterile, artificially – constructed space – a rational attempt at somehow capturing a moment.

Technique: aquarium filled with water and equipped with electric fan, artificial room made from plasterboard, wood / dimensions: 4 meters × 3 m × 2,25 m high
